EPF and its applicability
Employees’ Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 (also called The Act) has its applicability all over India except in Jammu and Kashmir.
Structure of EPFO
The EPFO’s regulatory structure is formed into regions, each of which is led by an Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioner. There are now ten zones, so each state is administered by branch offices, which are led by Regional Provident Fund Commissioners. Regional Provident Fund Commissioners lead sub-regions that are further divided into sub-regions.

Universal Account Number
EPFO will provide you a UAN (Universal Account Number). The UAN will serve as a single point of contact for the many Member Ids that have been assigned to an individual by various organizations.
UAN member E-Sewa for employees
The EPFO e-Sewa Portal is the Employee Provident Fund Organization’s official one-stop resource for EPF-related services such as checking EPF balances, previous and current employers, withdrawing cash from EPF accounts, and much more.

Online EPF transfer
Use your UAN and Password to access your EPF account. In the ‘Online Services’ tab, select the ‘Transfer Request’ option. You must submit the transfer request for validation to either the present or prior employer. Give your previous EPF account data.
Online PF withdrawal
- Go to the UAN website.
- Use your UAN and Password to log in.
- Fill in the Captcha.
- To verify whether your KYC data, such as Aadhaar, PAN, and bank details, are validated, go to the ‘Manage’ page and choose ‘KYC.’
- After you’ve confirmed your KYC information, proceed to the “Online Services” page and choose Claim (Form -31, 19 & 10C) from the drop-down list.
- To sign the undertaking certificate, choose Yes and then Continue.
- Finally, select ‘Proceed for Online Claim’ from the drop-down box.
- Online Registration Of Establishments
- For issuance of the PF code number, the Employees Provident Fund Organisation developed the Online Registration Of Establishment platform.

- Employers can make online PF payments using EPFO’s portal or an official bank’s website if the bank permits direct payment through their website when the firm has a bank account and online banking.

Activated by UAN, Members can find their most recent PF contribution and balance by sending a Text message to 7738299899 through their enrolled cellphone number. Enter 7738299899 and text EPFOHO UAN
Electronic return for the exempted establishment
The EPFO has developed an automated return filing service to minimize the workload of exempted enterprises and guarantee close supervision of provident fund investments.
Certificate of Coverage for International Workers
The COC is a certificate provided by the national social security authorities to an international employee that protects the IW from contributing to social security in the foreign country as far as they are contributing to the social security system in their native country.
Passbook and claim status
EPFO Portal – Go to the EPFO Portal and select the ‘Know Your Claim Status’ option to be led to the passbook application. After that, you may log in with your UAN and Password to check the progress of your claim.
