Eligibility Criteria for Liquor License

  • The individual must be at least twenty-one years old and a resident of India or a Person of Indian Origin.

Categories of License

Temporary License

The following sorts of temporary licenses have a six-month validity period.

Restaurant-cum-Bar

This license authorises the retail sale of foreign liquor for consumption on the premises of any restaurant or bar.

Hotel-cum-Restaurant-cum-Bar

This license allows for the retail sale of foreign liquor on the premises of any hotel, restaurant, or associated bar.

Hotel-cum-Bar

This license allows for the retail sale of foreign liquor for consumption on the grounds of any hotel or bar.

License Type: Regular

The following categories are eligible to apply for ordinary licenses.

Existing Departmental Stores with a minimum floor size of 1,500 square feet and departments for the retail sale of various commodities are eligible for a license to sell beer, wine, and low alcoholic beverage (LAB) for consumption off the premises.

Retail sale of foreign liquor for consumption on the premises of a theatre, nightclub, cafeteria, Dak-bungalow, Railway refreshment room, dining car, steamer, customs airport, or any other site of public resort and enjoyment with an accompanying bar.

Minimum Requirements for Site Plan

Online Application Procedure

Visit the Official Website www.excise.wb.gov.in

Step 1: Go to the West Bengal Excise Directorate’s official website.

Step 2: Go to the homepage screen and click on “Apply for new excise license.”

Step 3: From the citizen corner, select “Prepare application.”

Step 4: From the list of options, choose the sort of application you want.

Step 5: On the current page, select the “Click to proceed” option to bring up the instruction page.

Step 6: Provide your mobile phone number, and the OTP will be issued to that number.

Step 7: The page will be forwarded to the online application form after you enter the OTP.

Step 8: Complete the application form with all required information and submit the supporting documentation.

Step 9: The candidate must make an online payment after completing the application.
